I've just been woken by an earthquake (12:57am. South Manchester, near
the airport). It was violent enough to wake me and shake the furniture
in the room.

It woke me up. The odd thing was, however, that I woke up a good two minutes
before the tremor itself. I just got the feeling that something was not
quite right. Then the house started singing to me. The walls were vibrating
and the glass in the window frames was buzzing. This happened for about
thirty seconds whereupon there was a loud rumble and everything settled
down. At first I was convinced that I dreamed it but then both sets of
neighbours stepped outside ther houses and wandered around for a bit. The
$odd thing was that there were no car alarms set off. I checked round at
first light this morning but there doesn't appear to have been any
structural damage to the house.

Maybe you have the same sort of sense animals are said to have!
Having said that, my dog, cat and stick insects didn't seem in the
slightest bit bothered by the night's events.
There were no alarms round gere either - a little unusual since a lot
went off five and a half years ago when we had our last one.
Another earthquake in Indonesia No tsunami this time though. You can find stories about it if you want to. What seems to have happened is that any people who survived a Darwin last time by sheer luck, this time they have been cleaned up. Scientists are predicting more earthquakes for th
