I found this funny...

when singing Ring a Ring of Rosies or Ring around the Rosie....

Canadians say "husha husha all fall down"
Americans say "Ashes Ashes all fall down"

and the Brits say "atishoo atishoo all fall down".

I guess we all sneeze differently and the Brits just ask for the thing to
blow into.

The song has regional variations even within the UK. In the north-west we
used to sing "ashoo! ashoo!". My Gran always insisted the line was "When the
dear Lord calls us".

B - LOL...well supposedly it was supposed to be a sneeze because of the
disease that the pocket full of posies was supposed to keep at bay. I'm
not sure anyone says "when the dear Lord calls us" when they sneeze...

No, but lots of people say "God bless you" when someone else sneezes.

I always thought it was to do with the Great Plague, or at least the
plague. But it seems I'm wrong (again).

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ring_a_Ring_o'_Roses

but

http://www.phrases.org.uk/meanings/ring-a-ring-of-roses.html

thinks there is the possibility at least of a grain of truth.

I remember "Usher Usher! All fall down" years ago from the horrible little
upper class prigs who used to appear on Huw Weldon's "All Your Own"
talentless talent show programme in black and white on a 14 inch TV screen
in a 40 inch polished wood cabinet full of valves with just the one channel.

And Andy Pandy, Teddy and Looby Loo all getting into the same basket
together with no Mary Whitehouse to stop em!

I always thought it was to do with the Great Plague, or at least the

Don't worry. It's become the fashion these days amongst sump heap hole to
look for things that people have accepted as self-evident truths for decades
or centuries even and show how clever they are by overturning them! (the
ideas - not the people!)

When we finally invent time travel, we'll be able to go back and have a
look - and then there'll be some red faces, and some red swollen lymph
nodes!! Buboes! (>!<)

And why do the Herrrrns sing it "Ring-a-ring-a-Rosey?" Who was this Rosey?
Was she the one from the song . .

Rosey! . . . .Oh Roh-oh-oh-oh-osey!
If your draws could talk what a wonderful tail they'd tell!

Well that's how we used to sing it! Our Rosey was a particularly glamorous
and allegedly promiscuous telephone operator at the dreaded Toast Office
Power. Her nickname was Nefertiti - because her titis were indeed, very
nefer - although we nefer saw them in the flesh!

When I finally get around to scanning the cartoon in, you'll be able to see
her buying a cuppa tea from a cross-eyed canteen manager in Hieroglyphics!
