I assume there has to be some sort of superposition of states where the
customer is both standing and sitting at the same time. At some point another
customer enters the bar and causes this quantum state to collapse depending
upon whether he sits or stands.
In fact, you quite often see this in pubs, where the customers are in a
state, and close to collapse.
I actually feel tempted to write a doctoral thesis on this subject. It will
require large amounts of funding to enable me to hang around in pubs all day
as I make my scientific observations, but I'm willing to take on this onerous
task.
